Since April 30th 2010, a new law came to life to end all 3 year contracts. Since then, Mobile companies must give you a 2 year contract on the value of your phone. So take for an example, your iPhone's value is 1000$, so at the end of your contrat, you must pay the rest of the value of your phone. Contracts are no longer general, but on the value of your phone. Meaning, at the end of your contract (2 years) you must have payed the entire 1000$ which is the value of your current phone. This law is still in practice.
